Matilde was born on June 2nd, 1939, to Jose and Jovita Martinez in Smiley, Texas. She later married Ernest Andrade Day on August 16th, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas. Matilde and Ernest went on to welcome four children into the world.
Matilde was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Day; her parents, Jose Martinez and Jovita Martinez; and her siblings, Ruben Martinez, Jose Lopez, and Naomi DeLeon.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ernest Day Jr. (Crestina) of Allen, Texas, Ernestine Bierbaum (Todd) of Loveland, Colorado, Enedina Uhlir (Shane) of Chantilly, Virginia, and Edward Day of Lubbock, Texas; her brother, George Lopez (Gloria); 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her sister-in-law Ester Lopez; brother-in-law Isabel DeLeon Jr.; sister-in-law Juana Martinez; as well as various nieces and nephews.
