He was born in Hollis, Oklahoma, on July 1,1930, and raised in Whitharral, Texas, where he resided until joining the U.S. Air Force, where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Lubbock Baptist Temple. Max will be remembered by friends, foster children, and others as a man with character and a great sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Lori Mahon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel; children, Victoria Walden, of Taos, NM, Gary Max Walden, of Santa Fe, NM, and Kathi Irwin of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Denise, Victoria, Laura, Garrett, Keith, Steven, Heather; six great grandchildren and many close friends he considered family.
