

Michael “Mike” Roy Edwards, 78, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike was born on August 26,1948, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Merle T. and Phyllis Ruth (Bonnie) Edwards. He was the eldest of 5 children. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree from The University of Iowa, Iowa City in 1971. At Iowa, he was a four-year letterman in both football and wrestling. In 1970, he was named an All American in wrestling. In Iowa City, he met the one and only love of his life, Linda Adrian. They were married on June 6, 1970, in Davenport, Iowa. Mike loved his family unconditionally. He adored his wife of 56 years. He was proud of his two daughters and gushed over his grandchildren. He was a storyteller, who was always full of knowledge and wisdom. Mike loved to read, hunt and fish with family and friends, and, after retirement, travel in their motorhome.
Mike was a brilliant chemist, entrepreneur, and business owner. His manufacturing career took him to multiple companies in Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Colorado, and Texas. The family moved to Lubbock in 1999. Mike was co-owner of Caprock Manufacturing, Inc. for 17 years until his retirement in 2015. “He came, he saw, he adapted, he conquered.”
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Douglas Edwards.
Mike’s surviving family includes his wife, Linda Edwards; daughter, Amanda Edwards, and granddaughter Ashleah Edwards, of Lubbock, TX; daughter Dr. Melissa Edwards Petersen and husband, Aaron, and granddaughters Addisen and Brooke Petersen, of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Dr. M. Thomas Edwards, and wife, Kathy, of Eau Claire, WI; brother Mark Edwards and wife, Jeanne, of Woodbury, MN; sister Michelle (Edwards) Frank and husband, Wendell, of Girard, KS. Five nieces and two nephews also survive him.
Family suggests memorials to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) in support of research focused on enhanced diagnostic and treatment options for those with pancreatic cancer.
