

Michael was born in Lubbock TX on July 10, 1946, to James Riley Jeter and Mildred Arlene Clark. He lived a life defined by faith, hard work, service, and an unwavering love for his family. He was known for the fact that he never met a stranger. His warm smile, friendly conversation, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Michael graduated from Lubbock High School in 1966 and later earned his degree from East Texas State University in 1973. He valued hard work, education, and serving others, qualities that guided him throughout his life.
A proud patriot, Michael honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). His military service reflected his courage, dedication, and commitment to his country, values he carried throughout his life.
Michael was the devoted husband of Marjorie Ellen (Jackson) Jeter, they shared 52 cherished years of marriage and created a legacy of compassion, dedication, and unconditional love.
For 35 years, Michael owned and operated Jet Plumbing, earning the respect and trust of his customers through honest work, skilled craftsmanship, and dependable service. He took great pride in his profession and in providing for his family and community.
A faithful member of Lakeridge Baptist Church, Michael’s faith was an important part of his life. He enjoyed fishing, watching old Westerns, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, he treasured his faith and found his greatest joy in the moments shared with those he loved.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his sons, Michael "Tommy" Jeter and wife Amanda of Lubbock and Marshal Jeter of Lubbock; his daughter, Melissa (Jeter) Combs and husband Craig of Athens, TX; his grandchildren, Ethan and Claire Jeter of Lubbock, Maxwell and Benjamin Combs of Athens, TX; and his step-grandchildren, Aidan and Jill of Athens.
He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Mitchell and Patsy Modawell; his brothers, Ronald Jeter and wife Pat and Ted Jeter and wife Judy; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Jeter.
The family will receive friends during visitation on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeridge Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will immediately follow the service.
Michael Henry Jeter will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, faithful Christian, proud Army veteran, hardworking businessman, and loyal friend. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
