Mickhael Scott Alverson

Mike was born on January 20th, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to Elizabeth and James Alverson. The Alverson family eventually made their way to Lubbock, Texas, where Mike would graduate from Lubbock High School. After high school, Mike served his country in the United States Army from 1970 until 1974, when he was honorably discharged. During his service Mike earned numerous medals and commendations such as a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, as well as a Purple Heart. 

On June 28th, 2002, Mike married the love of his life, Jan Diersing Alverson. Mike worked hard and had a career in sales. In his free time, Mike enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and playing cards with family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his loving parents, Elizabeth and James Alverson, and his beloved daughter, Robyn Lynn Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Diersing Alverson; his children, Shanna Dean, Diane and Dan Brisley; grandchildren, Spencer Arthur, Brandon Pyron, Michael Dean, and Shelby Hicks; siblings, Sherryl Alverson, Lana Willson, and Christine Alverson; as well as his faithful companion Jack.

A visitation for Mike will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5 pm - 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Resthaven Abbey Chapel on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 1 pm with a committal service to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
