Celebration of Life Services for Mike Davis, 70, of Ralls will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, Aug 4, 2018 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Gilbert Guerra officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, Aug 3, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Mike passed from this life Tue, July 31, 2018 in Amarillo.

He was born June 15, 1948 in Midland, Texas to the late Jake and Opal Davis. He graduated from Monterey High School after graduation he served in the United States Army. Mike married Wynon Taylor, Nov. 14, 2015.

He had a passion for golf, sports, coaching, dancing and making sure his yard was golf course perfect but his biggest passion was for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Belinda Davis and a brother, Kent Davis.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Amy Hoffpauir, Amber Davis, Amanda Clift, Angie Edwards and Tasa Buckhannon, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Biography

      Mike Davis was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Mike will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

      Mike was born on June 15, 1948 in Midland, Texas. He was the son of Jake and Opal Davis.

      Mike was raised with a brother, Kent. Mike was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his sibling. He and his sibling experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      A typical teenager, Mike had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Monterey High School. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.

       Empathic and loyal, Mike was committed to making his new family happy.  Mike worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Mike was blessed with 5 children, Amy, Amber, Amanda, Angie and Tasa. Another blessing for Mike was the gift of 14 grandchildren.

      Fortunately, Mike enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Mike worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He owned and operated his own landscaping business. Mike always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Mike enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were golf, sports, coaching, dancing and making sure his yard was golf course perfect but his biggest passion was for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

      Mike passed away on July 31, 2018 at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. He is survived by his children, Amy Hoffpauir, Amber Davis, Amanda Clift, Angie Edwards and Tasa Buckhannon, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Mike was laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.

      Simply stated, Mike was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mike leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mike Davis.
