Michael David Hubbard of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully in his home on August 8, 2019 after a brave battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was the beloved husband of Pat Hubbard for 41 years.

Mike was born and raised in Neosho, Missouri where he learned to love the outdoors and value hard work and determination. After completing high school, he went on to graduate from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in business. Early in his career, he worked as a model, actor, and diction teacher. Throughout his life, he loved his work as an entrepreneur in the automobile business. He was the proud owner and operator of All Star Rent-A-Car.

Mike was passionate about several of his hobbies. He faithfully enjoyed playing basketball several times a week, affectionately known as “The Hammer” on the court. One of his favorite interests when he was younger was horse racing, taking pride when his horse, Reticent John, won races. Mike had a green thumb and took great care of his ferns, roses, and many plants. His other hobbies included playing guitar, entertaining family and friends with his singing, and playing bridge.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters Nicole Powers and Michelle Young and husband, a step-daughter, Danna Williams, a grandson and four step-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Jack Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Hubbard.

There will be a celebration of life memorial gathering in honor of Mike Hubbard on August 13, 2019 at 10 am at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel, 5470 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407.Online condolences may be offered on our website at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.

Biography

      Mike Hubbard was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Mike will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

      Mike was born on January 25, 1941 and raised in Neosho, Missouri where he learned to love the outdoors and value hard work and determination. He was the son of Mike and Jenny Hubbard.  Mike was raised with two brothers. Jack and Jerry. Mike was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      Mike enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Mike was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his degree in Business from Cal State Fullerton. Early in his career, he worked as a model, actor, and diction teacher.

       Empathic and loyal, Mike was committed to making his new family happy. He exchanged wedding vows with Pat. Together they were blessed with a 41 year marriage.  Mike worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Mike was blessed with two daughters, Nicole and Michelle. Another blessing for Mike was the gift of a grandson, a step-daughter and four step-grandchildren.

      Fortunately, Mike enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Mike worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was business. Throughout his life, he loved his work as an entrepreneur in the automobile business. He was the proud owner and operator of All Star Rent-A-Car. Mike always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Mike enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Mike was passionate about several of his hobbies. He faithfully enjoyed playing basketball several times a week, affectionately known as “The Hammer” on the court. One of his favorite interests when he was younger was horse racing, taking pride when his horse, Reticent John, won races. Mike had a green thumb and took great care of his ferns, roses, and many plants. His other hobbies included playing guitar, entertaining family and friends with his singing, and playing bridge. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

      Mike passed away on August 8, 2019 at his residence in Lubbock, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife; two daughters Nicole Powers and Michelle Young and husband; a step-daughter, Danna Williams; a grandson and four step-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Jack Hubbard. Services were held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Mike was laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.

      Simply stated, Mike was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mike leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mike Hubbard.
