On December 7, 1974, Mitchell married the love of his life, Mary Uetta Tucker. Together, they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring bond. Mitchell had a fulfilling career as a steam plant mechanic for Lubbock Power and Light. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as part of the field artillery from 1979 to 1981.
Mitchell was an active member of Southcrest Baptist Church and found great joy in his faith and family. He had a passion for history and was an avid hunter and fisherman. A devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys, he also cherished coaching his sons and grandsons in their little league sports.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Uetta Smith; his children, Marcie, Jason, Joshua(Amber), and Matthew(Erika); and his grandchildren: Grayson, Diego, Evelyn, Colton, Josaline, Delilah, Krieger, Mia, Ryder, McKenna, and Kade. He is also survived by his brothers Randy, James, and Brian; and his sister Linda. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eunice Smith; and his sister Anita Hillhouse.
Mitchell’s life was marked by love for his family and unwavering faith. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
