

She was born April 19, 1923 to Joseph and Vina Guesnier in Seward, Kansas.
She attended St. Mary of the Plains High Scholl in Salina, Kansas where she graduated at the top of her class with numerous honors.
She was introduced to William C. Heinen (Bill) at Fort Hays Military School and they married in 1942. Married life started in Abilene, Texas where they had one child and were stationed in occupied Japan for three years. It was during this time that she learned to love Japanese culture and fine art.
In 1950 they returned to Littlefield, Texas where they had their family. In 1969 they moved to the family farm in Shallowater. She was active with the Texas Tech Museum and enjoyed meeting new people and learning wonderful new lessons in History and Art as taught by Rabbi Kline. In 1976 when Bill died she took an active role in managing the family farm and she loved cotton.
She loved the land and took great pride in her rural surroundings, and in the Shallowater and Lubbock communities. She was a true Texas Lady. She had numerous hobbies, was an accomplished artist, and loved reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill.
She is survived by her eight children Sheila Garce (Michael) of Lubbock, Col. Bill Heinen (Suzie) of Leavenworth, Kansas, Dr. Bridget Heinen (Oliver Kiehne) of Orla, Texas, Peggy Butt (Dan) of Flemington, New Jersey, Bobby Heinen (Tita) of Farmington, New Mexico, Susan Eaton of the home, Tony Heinen of the home, and Rosemary Heinen of Fort Stockton, Texas. She had twenty-one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She always said, “Remember me as the sound of laughter.” In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the St. Philip Benizi building fund in Shallowater, Texas or the Texas Tech Museum.
