

Norma was born in Prinsburg, Minnesota on January 18, 1929, to the late Albert and Helga Huisinga. She graduated from Clara City High School in 1946. Norma then graduated from North Central University with a B.S. degree, and also attended MacPhail College.
In 1952 she married the late Dr. Donald Tanner. Don and Norma traveled as musical evangelists for ten years, traveling to Africa, Europe, Philippines, Malaysia and Mexico, as well extensively in the United States. In 1964 the Tanners returned to Minneapolis where Norma worked as Secretary to the Senior Pastor at Cedar Val-ley Church.
In 1977 the Tanners moved to Lubbock and Norma worked at Texas Tech University School of Law as a Senior Business Assistant for 32 years. She received the Texas Tech Quality Service Award in 2007. She retired in 2009.
Norma loved traveling, music, cooking, and entertain-ing. She devoted her life to her family and to helping others. Most of her life she dedicated to ministering to others through music. She played the organ for ser-vices at Elm Grove Baptist Church for the past several years.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Donald on November 18, 2009, and her brothers Roger and Robert, both of Willmar, Minnesota.
She is survived by her daughters; D’Anne White and her husband Steve of Lubbock, and Candace Judd and her husband Tom of Dallas; four grandchildren, Tanner White, Sydney, Hannah, and Samuel Judd. She is also survived by a brother Ralph Huisinga, and a sister Edith Johnson, both of Willmar, Minnesota.
Family and friends are invited to Resthaven Funeral Home, on Monday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm to reflect on Norma’s life. Funeral Services will be held at First Assembly of God, 3801 98th St., Lubbock on Tuesday at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Trinity Christian Schools as a part of a lasting heritage to her in the lives of the students.
