

Omagene Richey, 92, of Lubbock, departed this world to be with her Lord on Sept. 19, 2011. Funeral services will take place on Thurs. Sept. 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. Jim Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wed. Sept. 21, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Omagene was born Apr. 18, 1919, in Greenville, TX to parents Beulah (Canada) and Joe Walter Kennedy. She attended school in Meadow and had been a member of Monterey Baptist Church. She is remembered as a devoted homemaker with a great sense of humor who enjoyed quilting and practical jokes.
Survivors include three daughters: Barbara Gray of Lubbock, Bonnie and husband, Morris Tyler of Post, and Norma and husband, Richard Copeland of Fort Worth; two sisters: Doris Kennedy of Levelland and Peggy and husband, Sammy Russell of Ruidoso, NM; ten grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings: Patricia Bates, Buster Kennedy, Billy Kennedy, Viola Horton, Velma Gayle, Sue Bookout, and Jimmie Lee Blount; and by her husband, Grover Richey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Monterey Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX.
