Patrick Anthony (Pat) Thompson was born 14 June 1941 in Menard County Texas. He was at the Lubbock International Airport waiting for a flight to visit his sister and niece in the Dallas area when his flight was instantly changed to spend Christmas with his Mother in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his Father William James Thompson, Mother Pauline Frances Decker Thompson, infant Brother James Hugh Thompson, and wife Suzanne. He is survived by Son Clay Drake of Colorado, Sister Anita Thompson Birdsong of Frisco, two nieces, two great-nieces, two great-nephews, step-daughter Lorri Jennings of Abilene, and step-son David Fowlkes of Hurst.
Pat attended Angelo State University (1959-1962) and Texas Tech University (1962-1966). He taught vocational agriculture in Shallowater, was briefly a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper, and held positions with the Pepsi Company, Diamond Shamrock and Lubbock International Airport where he retired in 2011. It was with his work at the airport where he found the work-family and friends who he loved so much. It was those very loving people, friends and neighbors who became his family and took such good care of him both in good times and not so good. His life-long love for animals was second only to his love for all his friends and family.
There will be a memorial service for Pat at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407 on 3 January 2014 at 1:00 PM. Donations should be made to any animal shelter of choice.
