

Patricia Verkamp Simnacher of Lubbock, Texas was born on April 18th, 1935, the first child of Valeria and Sylvester Verkamp. She attended school at Wilson, Texas. After graduation, she attended Texas Tech University and later graduated from Baylor University. Patricia became a teacher and taught in both public and private schools. On August 28th, 1955, she married Elroy Simnacher. They were married for 62 wonderful years.
Patricia was a devout Catholic. She was active in many church organizations including Serra Club, Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, taught CCD classes, helped serve bereavement meals, and delivered for Lubbock Meals on Wheels. Patricia loved playing bridge with her friends, travel anywhere, and identifying bird species. Her most cherished parts of her life were her family and grandchildren. She was at their birth, held them tenderly as babies, took them on trips, and watched them grow into beautiful people. Her most enjoyable trips included traveling all over Mexico, Alaska, numerous Lenten "pilgrimages" led by Archbishop Sheehan of Sante Fe to Italy, Spain, Israel, Central Europe, and the "Footsteps of St. Paul" throughout Greece and Turkey.
Patricia is survived by son Brad of Lubbock, Texas; daughter Laurie Simnacher of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Rachael and Brandon of Houston, Texas; two sisters Jerene (Lewis) Rix, Rebecca (Joe) Waid, a brother Dennis (Lisa) Verkamp, and numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Elroy, her parents, a sister, Joyce Klar and a brother, Daniel Verkamp. The family suggests memorials to the Catholic Foundation, Christ the King Cathedral, or any charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79407, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by the Rosary from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and a Celebration of Life with refreshments from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A breakfast will be held at the Parish Family Center, directly behind Christ the King Cathedral, 4011 54th St, Lubbock, TX 79413, on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 8:45 am up until the funeral. A Funeral Service will take place at Christ the King Cathedral, 4011 54th St, Lubbock, TX 79413, on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Committal Service will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, FM 303 & St Philips Rd, Pep, TX 79353, on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
