Paul V. Bush

Paul was the oldest of four children born to Ollie May (Green) and Thomas William Bush, in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 29, 1917. The family relocated to Clovis, New Mexico, and eventually to Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1936 and on August 10, 1940, married Mae Brady. They had three children together, Paula, Jerry and Patsy.

Paul founded Lubbock Electric Company in 1944 before entering the Navy in 1945. Mae and Paula soon joined him in San Diego, California, where he was stationed. Upon moving back to Lubbock, he continued to grow his business into the successful company that it is today. He could be found at work every day of the week until he reached the age of 92.

Over the years, Paul served on many boards and was actively involved in the development of several organizations, including Milam’s Training Center, Breedlove Dehydration Plant, Texas Boys Ranch, MHMR and the Multiple Sclerosis National Society of Lubbock. He was a long time member of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association, American Business Club (Caprock Chapter) and a Life Member of the Texas Cotton Ginners Association. Paul was the first recipient of the William H. Tinney “Ethics In Business” award in 1990, as well as being honored as Distinguished Industrial Associate from the Texas Independent Ginners Association. As an avid antique car collector, he helped organize the Crank and Push Automobile Club. Paul served on the board of directors at Asbury United Methodist Church before moving his membership to Lakeridge United Methodist Church.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; his wife, and their son. Survivors include his two daughters and son-in-law, Paula Switzer and Patsy and Steve Moffett; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Isles at Raider Ranch and those at Interim HealthCare who loved and cared for him until the end.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
