He graduated from Central High School, Oklahoma City, OK. He married his sweetheart Rosemary Ann Hardy, the love of his life, on June 29, 1958, in Laverne, Oklahoma. Perry served as a Sgt. in the US Army. He owned and operated Sherwell Floor Covering in Lubbock and was well known as a faithful Christian businessman in Lubbock and the surrounding communities. His career spanned 55 years.
He was a dedicated member and deacon of Parkway Drive Baptist Church, and loved serving his church and the Kingdom in a multitude of ways.
He is survived by his children: David Perry and wife Natalie of Lubbock, Kimberly Templeton and husband John David (JD) of Kerrville, Stephen Zane and wife Shannon of Ft. Worth, TX and Matthew and wife Julie of Parker, CO. Perry deeply loved each of his 10 grandkids, and his two brothers: Jay Gilbreth of Lubbock and Jim Welch of Taylorsville, GA, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ernestine Welch and step-father James Franklin (Pop) Welch.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10:00 am at Parkway Drive Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX, with Rev. Kenneth Winchester officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Plains Baptist Camp and Conference Center.
