Phyllis Joan Shanklin, 85, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016. Mrs. Shanklin was born on June 20, 1931 in Frankfort, IN to the late Glenn and Ruby (Neece) VanTyle. She married Jack Shanklin on November 7, 1951 in Frankfort, IN.
Mrs. Shanklin was an executive secretary for Equitable Life Insurance for many years. She was a very avid athlete, as she won the Lubbock City and Club Tennis Championship, shot a great game of golf, and could out run most in her high school days. Phyllis was also a very wonderful cook. Most of all Mrs. Shanklin loved, and put her family first.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jack; two daughters, Kathy and husband David, and Karen and husband David. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Phyllis also leaves behind one brother, Donald VanTyle, and three sisters: Janice Elliott, Julia Healey, and Vicky Woods.
