Born Phyllis Ann Lampkins on April 12, 1939 to J.O. Lampkins and Maxine (Morgan) Lampkins At an oilfield camp in Earlsboro Oklahoma. As a child she grew up moving from one camp to another! During her school years she enjoyed playing basketball and tennis. Her favorite subject was geography, and she could see the world map in her mind’s eye as well as most of us could see it on a globe.
She graduated from South Heaven High School in 1957, and immediately got married to David L. Snook who was already in the Air Force. They were stationed in Mississippi, Florida and San Antonio Texas.as well as the Philippines. While living on Lackland Air Force Base she gave birth to her only child, Tony Lee Snook. In later years she went back to school and became a secretary! And continued to work until the age of 70 when she retired from the DHS office in Wagoner Oklahoma. She was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church where she taught 4th & 5th grade Sunday school for 20 years! She enjoyed ceramics, cooking and studying the word. She also cared for both of her Parents enabling them to stay in their home until the end of their lives. After seeing both of her parents reach their final resting place she moved back to Lubbock to be closer to family!
Her main concern was did I make a difference? And I would tell her yes you did just think about all the lives you touched in 20 years of teaching Sunday School and the fact that the rest of the Snook family had a wonderful Prayer Warrior! She is survived by her son Tony Snook and his wife Shellie her grandsons Jody Snook and Jeffery Snook and his wife Ashley. She also has 4 great grandchildren Sadie, Morgan, Norah and Maddox. We love you 2935!
