Ramona Esquivel, age 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Born on February 18, 1942, in La Pryor, TX, to Jesusa Trinidad Fuentes and Eusebio Palacio, Ramona lived a life marked by humility, strength, and generosity. She was married to her beloved husband Silverio for 65 beautiful years, a testament to enduring love and partnership.
She was born and raised in rural areas of Texas alongside six sisters and one brother, where she learned the values of family, hard work, and strong character that would define her life. A devoted mother, grandmother and loving presence to all who knew her, she found her greatest joy in caring for her family and supporting those around her. Known for her unwavering morals and gentle guidance, she inspired others to do what was right through both her words and example. Her respectful charm and warm spirit allowed her to make friends wherever she went, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives.
Ramona survived by her children: Ernest Esquivel (Elizabeth), Diana Brame (Bob), Edward Esquivel (Tamara), Elbert Esquivel (Monica), and Jason Esquivel; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Nicolasa Chavez, Carmen Sauceda, Lupe Vargas, and Agnes Sauceda. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Angelita Berreles, Julia Samaniego, and her brother Luis Palacio.
To her family, friends, and all who knew her, Ramona was a devoted mother, grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the love and wisdom she shared. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
