Born in Amarillo and raised in Lubbock, Keith filled his life with the most important things: Family, friends, airplanes, and music. He married and lovingly raised two strong and respectful daughters.
Keith grew up in a home that loved music. He played the guitar and loved to sing. He met his wife, Betty through music. After retirement, he dedicated more time to loved ones and performing for functions such as The Sounds of West Texas.
He worked at the City of Lubbock Civil Engineering department for most of his life, retiring as the Director of Public Works. He made so many friends there that he couldn’t leave the house without running into someone he knew.
Keith’s passion in life was airplanes. He had a pilot’s license as well as an aircraft and mechanics license so he could maintain and repair his Bonanza as well as donate his services to the Slaton Air Museum.
He is survived by his wife Betty Smith; his two daughters, Jana Smith and Elaine Ramzinski; and one grandson, Scott Fickling.
