Rella Faye Peterson

Rella Faye Peterson, 80, of Lubbock, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 5, 2016. Mrs. Peterson was born on December 2, 1935 to Rollo James and Ora Evelyn (Anderson) Smith in Hunter, Oklahoma. She married Vernon Alvin Peterson Jr. on October 15, 1955 in Hunter, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2007.

Mrs. Peterson graduated from Texas Tech University with a Masters in Home Economics Education. She worked at Texas Tech University College of Home Economics in the Curriculum Development Center for over 25 years developing curriculum materials for home economics educators in the State of Texas. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Rollo and Ora, husband; Vernon, and one sister; Connie Gruehne.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son; James (Jimmy) Vernon Peterson and wife Susan of Lubbock, Texas, and daughter Laura Lynn Heinz and husband Chuck of Lubbock, Texas. “Grandy” was also blessed with five granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers; John Smith, and Ron Smith and wife Helen.
