With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Reynaldo Ortiz, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on August 5, 1941, in Knippa, Texas, Reynaldo was the son of Francisco and Josefa Ortiz, who preceded him in death.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, Lay Minister, and friend whose life was defined by his unwavering Christian faith, his love for his family, and his servant's heart.
For many years, Reynaldo worked as a landscaper, taking great pride in providing for his family through honest work and dedication. His greatest calling, however, was his service to the Lord. As a faithful Lay Minister at La Trinidad Church, he devoted himself to serving his church family, sharing God's love, and encouraging others through his humility, compassion, and steadfast faith.
He loved writing and composing music and cherished the opportunity to share this passion with his wife. Reynaldo enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and treasured every opportunity to spend time with his family.
Reynaldo is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Abigail Ortiz; his children, Ofilia Salinas, Alejandro Ortiz, and Gilberto Ortiz; his cherished grandchildren, Christina Salinas, Christopher Salinas, and Joe Anthony II; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose; his brother, Joe Ortiz; his sister, Mary Ortiz Villarreal and her husband, Bill; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Josefa Ortiz; his son, Francisco Ortiz; his brothers, Juan Ortiz, Victor Ortiz, and Gilbert Ortiz; and his sisters, Ofelia Ortiz Hernandez, Susie Ortiz Olivarez, and Tina Ortiz Torres.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., both at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gilbert Ortiz, Joe Ortiz, Michael Paul Veanueva, Jeremy Garcia, Justin Wyrick, and Ernie Lara. Alejandro Ortiz will serve as honorary pallbearer.
His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
