Ricarda "Rica" Guzman

A Rosary will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 7:00 PM in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 14, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Msgr. David Cruz will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Rica was born April 3, 1930, in Fisher County, TX to parents Micaela (Terrazas) and Juan Flores. She married Clarence Guzman, Sr. in 1949 in Gonzales, TX. They were married for 49 years before he was called to the Lord in 1998.

She was employed by Texas Tech University for 15 years before her retirement. Not only was she a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, she was also a Cursillista.

Survivors include two sons: Clarence Guzman and Louis “Pwe” (Debbie) Guzman, both of Lubbock; four grandchildren: Barbara Blackburn of Austin, Michelle (Ruben) Felix of Lubbock, Amanda (Daniel) Salazar of Cuero, TX, and Maegan Guzman of Lubbock; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dario Flores of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Appreciation would like to be given to two special ladies: Dora and Petra Deleon, who are very dear to her heart.
