Richard Howell Moseley

Richard spent the majority of his childhood in Cameron, Texas, with his sister, Peggy. Some of his fondest early memories were made outdoors, where they loved playing outside at night, catching “lightning bugs,” chasing one another through the yard, and climbing the big hackberry tree to their tree house. Those simple childhood moments reflected the joy, curiosity, and sense of adventure that stayed with Richard throughout his life.

Richard later spent time in Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated from Monterey High School before continuing his education at Texas Tech University.

Richard was a well-respected businessman with an entrepreneurial spirit that began at the young age of 12, when he started his first business selling snow cones from his scooter. His strong work ethic and natural leadership continued to grow throughout his career. While working at Furr’s, Richard moved into management, a path that eventually led him to serve as a store director at Albertsons for 25 years. He lived the rest of his years working in sales managing contracts with Nationwide Building Services.

Richard had a lifelong love for cars, especially antiques. His passion began in Lubbock when he got his first car, a Model T Ford. He also loved country music and the Beach Boys, and he found joy in working in the yard, always striving to have the best-looking yard in the neighborhood.

Richard loved to talk and tell stories—stories from his childhood, stories about his many accomplishments, and especially stories about his family. He had a deep love for his sister, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It brought him great joy to make sure each of them felt celebrated on birthdays, holidays, graduations, and other important milestones.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Walters Moseley and Anne Elizabeth Howell Moseley.

Richard is survived by his sister, Margaret Anne “Peggy” Moseley Smith; his four children, Jeffrey Lynn Moseley (Teresa), Jason Howell Moseley, Tiffany Dawn Owens (Kyle), and Jennifer Michelle Cagle (Chris); his 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey Ryke Moseley, Madchen Danielle Moseley, Colton Lynn Moseley, Kaiden Gage Moseley, Skout Ivey Moseley, Maryn Ashley Owens, Kinley Ann Owens, Tanner Alan Cagle, and Brody Dean Cagle; and 11 great-grandkids.
