Rita Jo Nettles

Rita Jo Nettles passed from this life on March 12, 2026, in New Home, Texas surrounded by her loving family and special caregivers. She was born on August 18, 1929, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Ray and Esther Phifer. She married Leonard H. Nettles on September 2, 1945. They were blessed with a daughter Charlotte and a son Danny. Leonard and Jo were married 77 years.

She was deeply dedicated to her faith and family. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, her daughter Charlotte Neece and her husband Leonard Nettles. She is survived by her son Danny and Nancy Nettles of Lubbock, Texas: her son-in-law Allen and Linda Neece of Westminster, Colorado; her loving grandchildren Rachelle and Gene Link of New Home, Texas; Leslie Nettles of

New Home, Texas; Kimberly Gibson of San Antonio, Texas and Landon Neece of New Home, Texas; her adoring great grandchildren Heath Link, Ashton Link, Trent Gibson, Brittney Gibson and Devin Rhodes as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rita Jo was the best MeMaw you could ever have.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, March 16 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers 6025 82nd Lubbock, Texas. The graveside service will be at 10:00 on Tuesday March 17 at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas. The Memorial Service will be at 11:00 on Tuesday March 17 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers 6025 82nd St. Lubbock, Texas.

Pallbearers are Jay Mac Yowell, Shelby Smith, Andy Beck, Braxton Beck, Larry Durham and Tommy Harmonson. Officiants are Allen Neece and Mike Heatwole.

The family gives special thanks to her caregivers Leslie Nettles, Eva, Rozz, Tanay, Jennie and Calvert Home Care and Hospice, and her cook Landon Neece.
