Robert D. Krahn, age 88, passed away on September 15, 2024 in his home, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. He was born November 28, 1935 in Vega, Texas, the fifth son of Frederick and Agnes Krahn. After graduating from Amarillo High School, Bob served two years in the U.S. Army, primarily in Germany. Upon his return to Amarillo, he was employed by Pioneer Natural Gas Company, and in 1959 married Marilyn Mileur. In 1963, the company transferred Bob and his family, which now included two daughters, to Lubbock, where he remained for the rest of his career in the gas industry.
Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He was never happier than when he was on a lake with his many buddies. After retirement, Bob and Marilyn loved traveling with family and friends, enjoying many trips and cruises.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His wonderful and endearing sense of humor and dry wit will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers William, F.H. Jr., Jack, and James. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marilyn, daughter Sandra (whom Bob dubbed Sandy early on); daughter Tracy and husband Curtis Brown, whom Bob considered a true son; grandson Bryan Brown and wife, Annah Jane.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Chapel, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas.
