Robert Lee Miller, 89, of Lubbock passed away September 8, 2018. He was born in March of 1929 in Coleman, Texas. Robert married Hawijuana Jones on August 1, 1949.

His career was in Trucking for Merchants, Curry, Heath Furniture. Robert was a member of the Church of Christ, and spending time with his family was his passion.

He is survived by his wife, Hawijuana Miller of the home, three children: Danny (Elaine) Miller of Odessa, Sandra (Mike) McGuffey and Donna (Randy) Taylor all of Lubbock. Robert is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 19 Great- Grandchildren, and 2 Great- Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents,3 sisters and 3 brothers.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park with a memorial service following in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel at 10:00 am.

      Robert Lee Miller was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Robert will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

       He was born on March 8, 1929 in Coleman, Texas and was the son of Claud and Sarepta Miller.

      Robert was raised with 6 siblings. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Robert was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

       Empathic and loyal, Robert was committed to making his new family happy. He married Hawijuana Jones on August 1, 1949.  Robert worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Robert was blessed with 3 children, Danny, Sandra and Donna.

      Fortunately, Robert enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Robert worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was in trucking. His was employed for multiple companies: Trucking for Merchants, Curry, and Heath Furniture. Robert always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Robert enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite passion was spending time with his family. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

      Robert’s faith was important to him. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

      Robert passed away on September 8, 2018 at Tanglewood Estates in Lubbock, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Hawijuana Miller; three children: Danny (Elaine) Miller, Sandra (Mike) McGuffey and Donna (Randy) Taylor. Robert is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 19 Great- Grandchildren, and 2 Great- Great-Grandchildren. Services were held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Robert was laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.

      Simply stated, Robert was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Robert leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Robert Lee Miller.
