

Robert graduated from West Rusk County High School in 1966 before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1970. Throughout his career, he worked for Ashland Chemical in Shamrock, Texas, Bunte Candy Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and later completed his career with Hurricane Office Supply & Printing in Lubbock, Texas, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
As a young man, Robert enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. One of his greatest passions was breeding and raising Bull Mastiffs. Over the years, he raised many beautiful champion dogs and developed lasting friendships with fellow breeders and dog enthusiasts.
More than any accomplishment, Robert will be remembered for his humble spirit, quiet strength, and genuine kindness. His greatest legacy was the love he freely gave to his family. He lovingly raised Charlotte, Doug and Daylon as his own—not because he had to, but because he chose to. He also shared a deep love and devotion for his wife and their mother, Arcenia. His love for her was grounded in love, commitment, and selflessness. That selfless decision shaped their lives and stands as one of the greatest expressions of his character.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Arcenia Robinson Rosegrant; his son, David Smith; his parents, Thomas Murrell Rosegrant and Elta Fern (Livsey) Rosegrant; his brothers, David Rosegrant, Tom Rosegrant, and Jerry Rosegrant; and his great-grandson, Trent Hamby.
He is survived by his brother, Phillip Rosegrant and wife Eveline of Niceville, Florida; his step-sister Linda Fryar Kunze and husband Doug of Cuero, Texas, his daughter, Charlotte Trew and husband, Dean, of Lubbock, Texas; his sons, Doug Smith and wife, Nancy, of Lubbock, Texas, and Daylon Smith and wife, Becky, of Lubbock, Texas.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Brandon Galmor (Monique) Randi Trew, Jake Trew (Brittany),Tyler Smith (Kristen) Colton Smith, Logan Smith (Caitlyn), and Tucker Smith (LaKrisha); his cherished great-grandchildren: Kylar Galmor, Keagan Galmor, Gunner Smith, Landon Smith, Parker Smith, Harper Smith, Ella Smith, Adilynn Smith, and Maverick Smith; and beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock, Texas. A graveside service will be held in Shamrock, Texas, on a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
Robert’s life was a testament to quiet generosity, unwavering love, and putting others before himself. Those who knew him will remember his gentle nature, his quiet sense of humor, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. His steady presence, warm smile, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on family and friends alike. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
