Roberto proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, exemplifying the values of duty and honor that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he continued on as a Civil Service firefighter at Reese AFB, dedicating his life to the safety and protection of others. In 1986, he received the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor for his courage above and beyond the call of duty to save and protect a human life. He was known not only for his bravery and steadfastness but also for his warm-hearted humor. A true jokester at heart, he had the remarkable ability to brighten even the darkest days, leaving behind a legacy of laughter.
Roberto was a pillar of strength and integrity, raising his five children—Yvonne Vae’ena, Rob Martinez, Yvette Martinez, Iva Martinez, and Isabel Martinez—teaching them the importance of doing the right thing, standing firm in their beliefs, and embracing life with love and joy. His strong will and unwavering principles will forever resonate within his family and all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents Isabel and Juan Martinez and 8 of his siblings. He leaves behind his children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also, his last remaining brother, Eloy Martinez of San Antonio, TX.
Our beloved father left us on October 8, 2025, at the age of 86.
