At a young age, Ronald began working on the family farm, picking cotton. In 1948 he graduated from Anton High School.
After graduation from high school, Ronald attended Texas Tech where he was a member of the ROTC. It was in ROTC that Ronald developed a love for flying. He would eventually earn his pilot’s license and own his own plane.
In 1951 Ronald and Nelda Ruth Hooper, also of Anton, were married at Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX. They would go on to have two children, Rhonda Kay Tullis and Rodney Del Tullis
In 1953, the family moved to Cotton Center, TX, where
Ronald farmed cotton and a variety of other crops for many decades. His son and grandsons continue to farm the same land today.
Ronald was a successful farmer who was highly active in the Cotton Center Community as a member of the Lion’s Club, serving as President, and the Hale County Farm Bureau Board.
Ronald was a faithful servant of the lord and a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend to many. Though he had a commanding physical presence, his smile, kind demeanor and sense of humor made him a friend to all he met.
Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda and a brother, Paul Douglas Tullis.
Ronald is survived by, daughter, Rhonda Holmes and husband Rick of Boyd, TX. His son, Rodney and wife Debby Tullis of Lubbock.
He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; John T. Wright, Lee Ann Bailey, Ross Tullis, Meredith Vitek, Josh Wright, Rusty Tullis, Lauren Zahn and 11 great-grandchildren.
