Rosa was born on January 11th, 1949, to Manuel and Elodia Espinoza, in Alice, Texas. Her family eventually made their way to Idalou, Texas, and this is where Rosa would grow up and put down her own roots.
Caring for others, especially children, brought Rosa immense joy. She was a teacher for the Texas Migrant Headstart program, and operated her own private daycare, Hugs-N-Kisses for over 30 years. Rosa was a dedicated caregiver and many of the children she cared for would refer to her as Memaw Rosa – a name that her own grandchildren called her as well.
Rosa would occasionally find time to visit Oklahoma and enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos – especially the slot machines. You could also find Rosa playing bingo, surrounded by friends.
Rosa’s faith was extremely important to her, and she was a devoted church member at various local churches. She could often be found listening to Christian music, but her absolute favorite worship group was Crystal River.
While her faith, profession, and hobbies brought her joy, nothing could compare to the joy her family brought her. Rosa enjoyed every moment she got to spend with her three children, and all her grandchildren and extended family.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Elodia Espinoza; 5 brothers, and 3 sisters; as well as two grandchildren, Ryyan Lopez, and Ace Lopez.
Rosa’s legacy lives on through her three children, Lori Lopez (Bryan), Michella Nava, and Erik Nava; her grandchildren, Kristian Pemberton, Jayden Nava, Cruz Lopez, Zane Valdez, Broox Lopez, Maddison Valdez, and Malaycia Gaitan; as well as two great-grandchildren; and her sister Janie Peralez (Sotero). She is also survived by numerous cousins, many nieces and nephews, her extended family, and her devoted friends.
