I feel the loss so heavily like he was my dad and I honestly felt like he was. I’ve been so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of his family and for that I will always be grateful. I remember all his jokes and nicknames “knucklehead” was the one the stuck, it made it feel like family with all the fun memories. I know he always put family first and loved them so much and it’s been a great honor to get a glimpse of all the sacrifices he’s made for them and his country. Know that we will always love you and miss you every single day. Thank you so much for the great memories that will be forever cherished. ❤️

Rest In Peace Roy

...I think about you every day pop. Still hard to think of it at times. On this day before Father’s Day I wanted to say thank you for everything you have given/taught me. I will never forget it. I will always cherish & remember the memories when you were here. You were a great dad. And you will always be with me no matter what. I hope to lead by your example when I become a father one day....and I know you’ll be there for me when that time comes to help me out. 
I love you dad, and I’ll see you down the road. ❤️

Roy and I met when I was a freshman in high school and he was a sophomore, we both attended Lubbock High.  Initially, I was attracted to him because of his kindness, sense of humor, and smile, he was also adorable.  After he graduated from high school, he joined the Marine Corp., I still remember the broken heart I had when he left Lubbock to his first duty station in Palm Springs, California.  Thereafter, the following year, I graduated high school, we had our son, and we were married.  He brought the family to California where we remained.  While in the service, he served in various conflicts and was stationed at various locations while I remained in California.  He was always supportive of me--it was because of him that I began to work and continued my higher education.  I loved that he treated me like his princess and I loved that he loved his family.  I miss him tremendously, my heart aches more now than when he left for his first duty station.  I ask God for strength every day.   Love you forever Roy, RIP.

I meet Roy at Matthew Jr High. He always had such sweet ,kind humble heart. Handsome inside and out. I always like his smile. He was very funny. I was blessed to have known such a great friend.  Rest in Peace.  He will be missed. Also, Thanks for Your Service.

I remember when the Alonzos known as the Lubbock cousins would come to Dallas every summer.   A big highlight of their trip was going go Six Flags with the Dallas cousins.  Roy did not like to ride the rides, so if there was a particular ride another cousin didn’t want to ride it was ok because that meant you got to hang out with Roy for a little while while you waited on the others to finish the ride.  

I was always amazed later on in my adulthood when I heard that Roy, who didn’t like rides, became a career Marine and served our country for  many years.

I knew Roy in high school. He was always quiet and reserved but always a very kind gentleman. I’m sad that he has passed and am thankful that I was lucky enough to know such a kind soul. Praying for peace for Ruben and other family and friends who mourn his loss. Thank you for your service Roy. Rest In Peace sir.
