Sammie Johnson

Sammie attended Southside High School. She married Duane Johnson, April 8, 1952 in Fredrick, Oklahoma. She worked for the USAF Civil Services for 32 years until retiring in 1989. Sammie loved playing contract bridge with her friends at the Lubbock Bridge Center, and she achieved the rank of Silver Life Master.

She was a member of South Plains Church of Christ , where she loved spending time with the Silvertones. Sammie was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Lynn Johnson, her brother, Don Muse and her sister, Nona Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Duane Johnson and a daughter, Dee Dee Bundy and husband Bill Bundy, and her grandchildren; Heather Byars and husband, Matt, J.E. Bundy and wife Megan (Stewart). The true lights of her life were her great grand children; Liam, Audrey, Sadie and Henry Byars and Will, Kaydee and Clark Bundy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Duane and Sammie Johnson Athletic Scholarship Fund at Lubbock Christian University.
