It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sammie Christine (Chris) Carlton Rhodes Krepps, 72, of Lubbock, Texas, who passed away on January 29, 2026. Born on December 24, 1953, to Samuel Clyde Carlton, Jr. and Hazel Scott Carlton Williamson, Chris led a life filled with laughter, devotion, and professional success, retiring as Vice President of Western Title.
Chris was a passionate Texas Tech Football and Basketball fan and cherished the time spent at home games with her sister, Kay Howard. She found great joy in family trips to the lake and Cancun, and her loved ones will forever remember her wonderful sense of humor and her signature phrase, “It’s only money, I can make more tomorrow.” We could not have asked for a better wife, Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Cousin. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
She was united in marriage to Patrick Mark Krepps on June 29, 1985, in Lubbock. Chris and Pat spent 40 years+, going through life together while Pat served his country in the Air Force for over 22 years. Upon their final tour at Iraklion AFB in Crete, they returned to Lubbock to make it their “forever” home.
Her legacy of love lives on through her children, Trink Rhodes of Lubbock, Joshua Rhodes and wife Celia Bautista of Schertz Texas, Tiffany Sweeney and husband Scott of New Hampshire, and Andy Krepps of Washington State; her seven grandchildren, Nikki Saulters and spouse Landon, Randy Saulters and wife Kinley, Samantha Saulters and spouse Alonzo, Zoe Bautista, Zachary Rhodes, and Cooper and Teagan Sweeney; and her four great-grandchildren, Skylar Bartlett, Tatum Barlett, Selah Saulters, and soon-to-arrive Adelyn Torres; her sisters, Ann Oppenheimer of San Antonio and Anita Kay Howard (Jerry) of Lubbock; mother-in-law June Krepps; sister-in-law, Brenda Kubicki; nieces, Kit Thompson (Lance), Anjanette Webster (Carl), Quinn Baraza, Markay Mims and her nephews Scott Howard (Lisette) and Sean Caron.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Randy Rhodes; and her brother-in-law, Edward J. Oppenheimer; and father-in-law Joseph R. Krepps.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Chris's memory to the UMC Cancer Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
