

Samuel Wardell Keyes was born on December 3, 1919 in Winnsboro, LA.
He graduated from Winnsboro High School then enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and served for 20 years through World War II and the Korean War. He was stationed in Southeast Asia, China, Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, LA, Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan; Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock and England Air Force Base in Alexandria, LA. He achieved the rank of Master Seargent before retiring in 1962 and returning to Lubbock. He then worked as an executive with Lubbock Power and Light for 22 years before his retirement in 1985.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Jeptha and Bertha Keyes, his brothers, Roddie Renfro, Alfred Renfro and J.L. Keyes, his sisters Trudie Swink, Georgie White and Ruby Polk. He was married to the late Pauline Keyes for 53 years until her death in 2001.
He is survived by his daughter, Sama Chandler, of Fort Worth; his grandsons, Vann and Zachary Chandler, both of Fort Worth; many nieces and nephews and his loving and loyal friends.
