Born August 24, 1947, in Colorado City, Texas to Frank and Faye Oglesby Jr., Sandy moved often throughout her childhood and made many lifelong friends along the way. She graduated from Claude High School and attended both North Texas University and Midwestern State University.
She met the love of her life, Richard Ball, and they were married in 1992. They devoted their lives to loving one another, spending time with family and friends, serving their church, volunteering, and most of all, spending time with their grandsons.
Sandy was an amazing loving mother to Steffanie Lynne Dayton and Steven Glenn Myers. She stayed at home in the early years of her children’s lives and retired from Lubbock Independent School District in 2021, where she was the principal's secretary at Whiteside Elementary. She loved spending time with her daughter, shopping, traveling to New York several times, getting lost no matter where they were, embarking on many adventures, and talking to her every day.
Her favorite role was being a grandmother. She treasured her time with her three grandsons and loved being their Grammy. Her favorite tradition was building gingerbread houses every year during Christmas. Grammy loved them, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
Sandy and her friends were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From sitting around, laughing, drinking a glass of wine to traveling together creating wonderful lifetime memories.
Sandy was passionate about her job as the principal’s secretary at Whiteside Elementary. She wore many hats while there and was always there for a laugh, cry, hug, good talk, and anything that was asked of her. She loved her Whiteside Family so much.
Everyone who knew Sandy knew how much she loved Jesus, found joy in reading a good book, watching her Hallmark movies, a good cup of coffee and spending time with her family and friends. She was a die-hard New York Yankees fan, loved her Kansas City Chiefs and the Fightin' Texas Aggies.
Sandy will always be remembered for her strong Christian faith. She never let her feet hit the floor before doing her quiet time by reading the Bible, praying and journaling. She was an amazing prayer warrior and always asked everyone how she could pray for them. She mentored many throughout her lifetime, and many still reached out to her for her wisdom and guidance.
She will always be remembered for her love for Jesus, her smile, laughter, spunk, compassion, advice and undying love for her friends and family. We couldn’t have asked for a better mom, Grammy or friend and will miss her every single day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Ball, parents, Frank and Faye Oglesby Jr. and sister, Sheree Oglesby. She is survived by her daughter, Steffanie Dayton (David), son, Steven Myers, brother, Terry Oglesby, three grandsons, Zachary Dayton (Emma), Adam Dayton (Chloe), Caleb Koch and two nieces, Robynn Watson (Matt) and Stevie Deeds (David) as well as many friends.
Her celebration of life service will be October 30, 2026, at 2pm at Aldersgate Church in Lubbock.
