Sarah Ruth Stevenson of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2026. Sarah was born on September 23, 1957, in Levelland, Texas, to Walker and Chattie Stevenson. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and proudly served for many years at the Broadway Church of Christ's Carpenter’s Kitchen. Sarah was also involved with the Special Olympics, earning several medals along the way. She took great pride in her work at Chez Suzette French Restaurant until its closing in 2009.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Chattie Stevenson; her brother, Paul Stevenson; her sister, Lois McKnight; and her brother-in-law, Timmy McKnight.
She is survived by her nephews, Josh Stevenson, James McKnight, and Jonathan McKnight; her niece, Janelle Vermilion, and her husband, Jeff Vermilion; and her sister-in-law, Jane Martin.
Sarah was also the great-aunt of Rex and Allie Stevenson; Felicity and Jaydalai Rudd; Mattison and Casey Younts; and Dean, Gavin, and Lena Vermilion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carpenter’s Kitchen at Broadway Church of Christ.
The family would like to thank Janie Villareal for her care and service to Sarah.
The funeral will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on August 6, 2026. Pallbearers will be Josh Stevenson, James McKnight, Jonathan McKnight, Jeff Vermilion, Rex Stevenson, and Felicity Rudd.
