Sean was born on February 9, 1981, in Lubbock, Texas, where he grew up, went to school, and graduated from Coronado High School in 1999. Not long after graduation, Sean enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he discovered his passion for serving his country. He served proudly and with honor for 6 years, including deployments during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. After his distinguished military career, Sean continued his service by working for the Department of Defense for 8 years, where he excelled to a high rank. His work took him overseas, a part of life he deeply enjoyed. God watched over Sean throughout his time in service and mercifully brought him home safely to his family. Sean loved traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, and fully embracing every adventure that came his way.
Following his departure from the military, Sean returned stateside and eventually made his way back home to Lubbock, where he lived with his father, Buddy, for the last several years of his life. He lovingly cared for his dad, and the two cherished their time together catching up, swapping stories, and making new memories. Sean found joy in working on his pickup and motorcycle, going on rides, and reconnecting with family.
Sean was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Gwen Clements, whom he loved dearly; his “little brother,” Montana Jones—his lifelong partner in crime; and his Uncle Joe Jones, who shared both Sean’s pride and bond as a fellow American soldier.
He is survived by his beloved father, Buddy; his Aunt Denise Jones; Aunt Janie Grogan (husband Tim), cousins D’Anne Vidaurri (husband Oscar and daughter Lilyanna); Kaleb Baker (wife Katlyn and son Montana); Kyleigh Daugherty (husband Tyler and children Hudsyn and Saiglin); JD Jones (son Trivian); Blake Clements (wife Lennie and children Derrick and Abby) along with other loving aunts, cousins, countless friends around the world, and his United States Air Force family and military family.
Sean’s courage, loyalty, and deep love for family and country will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him. Family held a private viewing and service.
In lieu of flowers and cards, the family asks that donations be made to: Wounded Warrior Project or the Headstrong Project for PTSD in Sean’s memory.
