Shane went to be with God and joined his other family members September 6, 2025. He was born June 19, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas. He was only eleven years old when he became a Christian at Highlands Baptist Church in LaMarque, Texas. He lived his life passionately dedicated to helping others. His family and friends were his foremost “treasures of life”.
He is survived by his Mother Billie Ogens, Step-Dad John Ogens, Sister Shawnda Henry. Additionally, Stepsiblings, Stacy and Jeff Ogens. Aunt Bobbie Gannon, Aunt Jeanie Burke, nieces/nephews: Lexi, Ashlyn, Alyssa Paige, & Tyler along with multiple cousins.
He was a curious child devoted to learning about the world. He learned to swim at age two, spent summers with his Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, joined the high school dive team, and enjoyed surfing. His other hobbies/passions were riding in rodeos and going fishing with his grandmother.
As a young man he continued the family tradition by becoming an Electrician. He passed the Master Electrician State exam at the young age of 22 in Lubbock where he also taught the first-year IBEW850 apprenticeship school. He married the love of his life, Belinda. This was also the era when he became a big bass fisherman and bit of a wine connoisseur.
His life was forever changed June 27, 2001. He had a car accident that left him with a significant traumatic brain injury that affected both his brain and his body. He learned to talk and walk again and adapt to his new normal which included almost zero use of his right-side extremities. Determined as always, he accomplished independent living in Georgetown, Texas after many years.
Shane never met a stranger, had a zest for life that was difficult for us to understand with all his physical problems. He had a beautiful way of making the best of bad situations in life. He gave to the poor. He uplifted the sad. He never complained of his deficits and helped others to overcome theirs when possible.
For those who knew him, we were truly blessed. We will miss his funny sayings, his positive attitude toward difficulties and his Love of Life, Family and Friends.
Graveside Service/burial will be 1:00 pm on Sept. 20th at Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock.
