Shawn Cannon

Shawn’s journey in life began in Lubbock, then Amarillo, Big Spring, Dallas and back to Lubbock which became her cherished home for her remaining years.

Her professional career found her at The Dallas Adolphus Hotel in the Food and Beverage Department. When she returned to Lubbock, she worked at Texas Tech University in the Sports Information Department. This began her lifelong dedication to the Red Raiders! Shawn became the Executive Assistant to the President of State National Bank when it first began in 1996. She was with the bank for several years until the bank was sold. Shawn returned to the Hotel business at the Lubbock Overton Hotel in Human Resources and remained until she retired.

Shawn was predeceased by her wonderful mother Henrietta/Retta that passed just 4 months ago, her father Vernon Cannon and her grandmother Rebecca McCarty. She is survived by her daughter Casey McCaleb, granddaughter Lilly McCaleb and her best friend Tom McCaleb. Sisters Fanchon Hallam (Howard) and Candy Hatfield (Ron), Niece Bryan Lynch (Brian) and their sons Benton and William, Nieces Taylor Hatfield and Hayley Hatfield.

Shawn’s pure sweet soul is now free from her disabled earthly body. She has embarked on a journey to a better place, leaving her family with a mix of sorrow and celebration.

Casey and Lilly took great care of Shawn in her final months and days. She loved them more than life itself and her spirit will live within them forever!

A Celebration of Life in honor of our dear Shawn will be held on April 5, 2024, 11:00 am in the Pavilion at Spirit Ranch 701 Regis St., Lubbock, TX.
