Shelby Lee Peoples

Shelby was born on July 15, 1943, in Lockhart, Texas. She married the love of her life, Jackie, on February 16, 1962, and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Shelby was deeply devoted to her family and was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love. She cherished her husband, Jackie; her daughter, Rhonda; her grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary; and her great-grandchildren, Kade, Braden, Jocelyn, and Kensley. She also shared a special bond with her sisters, Jeane and Linda.

Shelby’s life was a reflection of care and compassion. Whether through her presence, her words, or the quiet ways she supported others, she made a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was a faithful member of Southcrest Baptist Church and the Powers Evan Life Group.

She found great joy in playing card games with her close-knit group of friends, where laughter and fellowship were always abundant. One of her greatest passions was traveling in her RV, creating treasured memories along the way. She especially enjoyed meeting up with friends and family, including her siblings Bob and wife Jeannene, Jeane and husband Charles, and Linda and husband Steve. These trips were filled with connection, storytelling, and moments that will be cherished forever.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the care and support provided by Beyond Faith Hospice during her final days, especially Christina, Maddy, and Dean.

Shelby is survived by her loving husband, Jackie; her daughter, Rhonda; her grandsons, Tyler (Lindsey) and Zachary (Claudya); her great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jeane (Charles) and Linda (Steve); and her brother, Bobby (Jeannine). She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry James and Ruby Shirley.

Shelby was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Visitation will be held at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St., Lubbock, TX 79424, US, on May 18, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St., Lubbock, TX 79424, US, on May 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

Committal Service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
