Sherry Deanna Dietrich, born on December 30, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in her hometown of Lubbock. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories cherished by family, friends, and all who knew her.
Sherry graduated as a valedictorian from Petersburg High School in 1956, where she was actively involved in 4H. She continued her education, earning a BS from WT A&M, and began a rewarding career in education with LISD as a teacher, touching the lives of many students with her dedication and passion.
On October 4, 1959, Sherry married Lt. Kenneth Dietrich, and together they raised two children, Shelley and Randy Dietrich. Her family grew to include grandchildren Hayden, Grayson, Kathryn, and Elizabeth, as well as great-grandchildren Jack, Riley, and James Cummins.
Sherry was deeply involved in the Forrest Heights United Methodist Church, where her faith and creativity flourished. She was known for her exceptional ability to teach Sunday School, write engaging skits, and her hobbies of reading and sewing brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood and Imelda Ramsey; her sister, Melda Jo Jacobs; and brother-in-law, John Jacobs. Sherry is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Don Ray Ramsey, sister-in-law Cathy Ramsey, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the local Red Cross in Sherry’s honor.
A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday August 18th, 2026, at 1:00 pm Forrest Heights United Methodist Church.
Sherry’s life and legacy will be remembered for her generous spirit, commitment to education, and the profound impact she had on her community and family.
