Silverio Esquivel, age 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
Born on June 20, 1941, in Hondo, TX, to Reymunda A. Esquivel and Cruz Esquivel, Silverio lived a life marked by humility, strength, and generosity. He was married to his beloved wife Ramona for 64 beautiful years, a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Silverio proudly served the City of Lubbock for 36 years, embodying dedication and integrity in every role he held. Yet it was through music that his soul truly soared. A gifted tenor and professional saxophonist, Silverio began playing in his teens and became widely known for his work with the band Epiphanio y los Melodicos, performing alongside cherished friends like Pete Morales. His final album, featuring the heartfelt song “Juanita,” remains a treasured piece of his musical legacy.
Beyond the stage, Silverio was a man of quiet wisdom and deep interests—he loved old westerns, documentaries, and history. He was known as a man of his word, whose kindness and hardworking spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Silverio is survived by his children: Ernest Esquivel (Elizabeth), Diana Brame (Bob), Edward Esquivel (Tamara), Elbert Esquivel (Monica), and Jason Esquivel; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Frances Camacho-Ochoa (Edward). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Esquivel Stone.
To his family, friends, and all who knew him, Silverio was a devoted father, cherished brother, and loyal friend. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the music he shared. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
