Sonie M. Pinkert, 84, passed on October 7, 2026. She was born November 15, 1941, in Ralls and was a resident of Lubbock, Texas. Sonie was the daughter of the late Clyde McLane, Jr and the late Lillian Helen Earp McLane. Sonie was the fifth of four children.
While attending school in Ralls, Texas Sonie was a member of FFA and enjoyed riding her horse and competing in barrel racing where she won several medals. Sonie received a bachelor's degree in applied science with a minor in family counseling from Texas Tech in 2014 at the age of 73. She was a member of the Red Hat Society for many years and enjoyed teaching line dance and country dancing.
Sonie was employed by the city of Lubbock for 20 years, in the accounting department when she decided to retire and pursue her college degree at Texas Tech where she was employed in the engineering dept. while attending college.
Sonie loved to garden, shop and socialize. She was a beautiful soul and will dearly be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by a brother Clyde McLane, Jr. of Pittsburg, PA, a sister Ruth Vallee Reese of Crosby Texas, her beloved daughter Vallee Pinkert, and her only son Roy Pinkert II.
Sonie is survived by a former spouse Roy Pinkert Jr, one brother William Delano McLane of Waxahachie, Texas, two granddaughters, and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79407, on October 14, 2026, from 9:00 am.
Funeral Service will be held on October 14, 2026, from 10:00 am and Committal Service will follow within Resthaven Memorial Park.
