Sophie went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Nov. 25 in her apartment at Elmbrook Estates, Lubbock, Texas. She was born on May 13, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa. Sophie loved life and was a blessing to many who knew her. Her faith in Christ, her family and her church family at Crossroads were among her greatest joys. Sophie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Edwin U. Sr.; daughter, Shirl Lynn; and grandson, Trevis. She is survived by sons, Edwin U. Jr. and wife Deb of Normal, Ill., Michael J. and wife Paulette of Albuquerque, N.M., and Karl J. and wife Susan of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Sophie's life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Crossroads Community Church, 5833 4th Street, Lubbock. Cremation will be under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home and Crematory.
