Stanley Gordon Smith came home to his Epistemological Source on June 4, 2025 at the age of 74. He was born in Dallas, Texas on October 25, 1950 to the late Edgar Carlyle Sr. and Phyllis Matlock Smith. He was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, then graduated from Texas Tech University with his undergrad in Civil Engineering and masters in Physics. He later completed his Doctor of Naturopathy in 2005.
He married Donna Carroll in 1977 and had three sons in Lubbock. He worked as a teacher at Christ the King High School and as an Investigator at the Texas Air Control Board. The family then moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico for nine years, where he taught high school at Mesilla Valley Christian Schools, before returning to Lubbock. He then became a STEM professor at South Plains College, retiring in 2020.
Stan was gifted in a wide variety of disciplines, including music, education, engineering, and science. He was a published member of the Creation Research Society, and presented his Men, Memes, and Metaphysics paper at a symposium held at Oxford University. He was an active member of his church, The Fellowship, and associated with the Constitutional Society of Lubbock, South Plains Patriots, and Salvation Army. One could hardly spend a few moments with Stan before being given at least one of his pamphlets. Most of his written work is being published for free on Substack at originsofdestiny.substack.com.
Stan is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Donna, his parents and brothers, E. Carlyle Smith Jr. and Steve Smith, and sister-in-law, Ouida. He is survived by Steve’s wife, Alice, their children and grandchildren, his three sons, Joshua, Timothy, and Jonathan Smith, and his grandson Michael.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at The Fellowship.
