Susie Atchilee Griggs

Our loving mother Susie Griggs, joined her family and her Heavenly Father on June 20, 2014 at the age of 92. She will be greatly missed by her children and a host of family and friends. She was born January 16, 1922 to James and Jocie McDaniel in Atoka, OK and raised in the Baptist church.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, M.R. Griggs; children, Peggy Mapp Scott and Jimmy R Griggs; sons-in-law, Jim Taylor, John C Mapp and Wayne Scott; daughter-in-law Bonnie Griggs; sisters, Marjorie Deu, Kathryn McMaster, Edna Moore and Bunny Hamilton; brother, Walter Robbins.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Taylor of Shallowater; four sons, Tommy and wife Evelyn, Kenneth, Larry and wife Bettye and Al and wife Debbie, daugh-ter-in-law, Patty Griggs, all of Lubbock; sisters, Rosa Mason of Arizona and Jo Gonzales of California; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Many will remember her joyful spirit as an employee of Ellison Drug Store and Drover House. She had an unconditional love for her family and took great joy in visiting with her grand and great grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff and nurses of Whisperwood Nursing Home for loving and taking care of our mother.

Visitation will be tonight, June 23, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Wyatt Fenno, of Westmont Christian Church, Tuesday, June 24, at 10:30 am in Resthaven Memorial Park.
