Born December 10, 1947 to Vivian and Milton Weedon in Waxahachie, Texas, Suzie graduated from Granbury, Texas in 1966 and from Texas Tech in 1970. She was married first in 1970 to Ron Gore. The result of that union was a daughter, Jennifer Ann. Later, on February 7, 1981 she married Terry Anglin through whom she gained three step-children Damon Anglin, Lance Anglin, and Shannon Fulton and eventually six step-grandchildren.
Suzie was a retired elementary school teacher who devoted 37 years of teaching to Lubbock Independent School District. After retirement, she remained an Elder of Westmont Christian Church, an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and an active player in bridge club. As a thirty-six year survivor of breast cancer, she regularly walked with her daughter and grandchildren in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She volunteered and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels of Lubbock. She enjoyed traveling the world with her “suitcase sisters”, Lady Raider Basketball, and was a seasoned patron of the theater everywhere she went. She was an avid reader, a doting “Meemaw”, a loving mother, and a devoted wife.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father. Suzie is survived by husband, Terry Anglin, daughter, Jennifer “Jenni” Shipman and her husband Michael “Mike” Shipman, grandsons Jesse and Justin all of Lubbock, Texas, a sister, Beth Lee of Houston, Texas and her husband H.D. Lee, a brother James “Jim Bob” Weedon of San Antonio, Texas and his wife Judy Weedon, three nieces and a nephew and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Suzie’s family will receive friends this evening, May 21, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services for family and close friends will be Wednesday afternoon, May 22, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. also at Resthaven. A Celebration of Suzie’s Life will be at Westmont Christian Church that afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Lubbock Meals on Wheels, the American Heart Association, or Westmont Christian Church all of which were near and dear to her heart.
