Sybil Yvonne Moyer passed from this life to enter the gates of Heaven on Wednesday December 8, 2021, at the age of 82. She was born August 8, 1939, in Seagraves, Texas. Sybil married the love of her life, Arthur S. Moyer in 1973. They were married for 48 years upon Sybil’s passing.
Sybil grew up outside of Seagraves, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of Claude and Pearl (Dozier) Kennedy. Sybil along with her siblings, Sammy, Herman, Geneva, Wylie and Janie were raised on a West Texas cotton farm. Sybil graduated from Seagraves High School in 1957.
Sybil met Arthur Moyer in 1972 through a mutual friend, they married in 1973. They spent the early years of their marriage in Denver, Colorado, Lubbock, Texas, and Marquette, Michigan upon Author’s retirement from the United States Air Force they settled in Lubbock, Texas to raise their family.
Sybil was a devoted Christian woman; she was passionate about studying the word of God. Her hobbies included reading, playing the piano, and she was always ready to enjoy a good western on television. At the age of 80 years old Sybil graduated from Life Christian Bible Institute with her Associates degree in theology. She completed her college education in 2020 with her bachelor’s degree in theology.
Sybil leaves behind a devoted and loving family. Her husband of 48 years, Arthur S. Moyer of Lubbock, Texas, 5 children, Monty Johnston (Judy) of Smyer, Texas, James Johnston of Smyer, Texas, Jacque Myatt (Sham) of Levelland, Texas, Scott Johnston (Melinda) of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Kris Moyer (Renee’) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sybil has 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sybil will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Sybil is preceded in death by her parents, Claude & Pearl Kennedy, her brother Sammy Kennedy, her sister, Geneva Kennedy and her granddaughter, Meredith Kennedy Moyer.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 5pm to 7pm. A memorial service will be held in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10am.
