With faith in God’s eternal care, we announce that Sylvia Martinez, 61, of Lubbock, Texas, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She was born on February 6, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas, to Pedro and Erminia Martinez.
Sylvia attended Ballinger High School and graduated with the class of 1985. She was a proud member of Our Lady of Grace Church and had a passion for spreading love and happiness. She will always be remembered for her compassion and for the light she shared with those around her. In this time of sorrow, her memory remains a blessing, and those who knew her may find comfort in the love she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Erminia Martinez.
Sylvia is survived by her siblings, Pedro Martinez, Andy Martinez and wife Rubia Martinez, Esmeralda Martinez, and spouse David Morales. She is also remembered by her nieces and nephews, Adrianna Martinez, Mickey Martinez and husband Marcus Yanis, Stephen Martinez and wife Gabriella Martinez, Katalina Palacio and husband Kris Allen, Joe David Palacio, Andrew Gutierrez; and by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Madalyn Yanis, Jasper Martinez, Adalina Allen, Adrianna Heras, and Adrian Heras.
Serving as pallbearers will be Pedro Martinez Jr., Andy Martinez, Marcus Yanis, Kris Allen, Joe David Palacio, and Andrew Gutierrez. Stephen Martinez will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family also extends heartfelt thanks to everyone for the phone calls, messages, and prayers. May Sylvia Martinez rest in God’s peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort to all who hold her close in their hearts.
Visitation will be Wednesday September 30, 2026, at 5:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home 5740 west 19th Street Lubbock, Texas 79407 with a Rosary to start at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 1, 2026, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace 3111 Erskine Street Lubbock, Texas 79415 following a Committal Service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park 15602 TX-493 Loop Lubbock, Texas 79423.
