Born in November 1955, in Lubbock Texas to Fred and Samye Jones, Tim lived a life defined by service to others, faith and a deep love for his family.
Tim was raised in Acuff, east of Lubbock, where he had many fond memories of playing with his cousins at his grandmother (“Mudgie”)’s home place. His mother had him in piano lessons at a young age, and he played throughout his youth and high school years on Sundays at the Canyon Methodist/Baptist Community Church.
He attended Roosevelt school, graduating in 1974. He was actively involved in sports, including football and baseball, and worked on the farm throughout his high school years. He remained active in the Roosevelt community all his life, with his daughter and grandchildren attending school there as well. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University, but then focused solely on cotton farming. In 1987, he began his career as a firefighter for the Lubbock Fire Department, rising through the ranks, reaching the level of Battalion Chief. He proudly served the citizens of Lubbock for over 28 years before retiring in 2016. In 1989, he completed his bachelor’s degree in accounting at TTU and began work as a CPA. One of his greatest joys was taking great care of his clients.
He was an avid fan of Texas Tech Athletics throughout his life, and enjoyed attending games with his wife, daughters and grandchildren.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Dawn Jones: his daughter, Samye Hildebrandt and her husband, Casey; his daughter Kaiti Timmons and her husband, Garret; his siblings, Richard Jones, Bob Cass and wife Brenda, Jenna Cass, Pam Beauchamp, Mary Crow, Steve Crow, Jeff Crow, and KC Crow and wife, Melissa, as well as his aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandfather to Kaleb, Jolie, Jace and Holt, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.
Tim was blessed to have 3 wonderful mothers, who preceded him in death: Samye Jones, Ann Jones and Sandy Jones, as well as his father, Fred Jones, his son, Timothy Guy Jones, and his brother, Kemp Cass.
Tim’s greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and cousins above all else. His presence, guidance, love and support will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends through the lessons he taught us for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tim’s honor to the Roosevelt Education Foundation and/or the Lubbock Professional Firefighter’s Association.
